Tuesday, November 1 we went for a 3 1/2 mile hike before packing up. The trails at Santos are so nice with lots of shade.
Part of the bike trail on our hike
We have to admit, one thing we love is going out to eat! Especially all the yummy seafood.
Wednesday we went for a 3 mile hike.
Saw a turtle
After our hike, we went the beach in Venice. We at at the camper - breakfast for supper.
After our day in Cape Coral and Fort Myers beach (sea previous post), we headed to Punta Gorda to eat at Laishley’s Crab House to have their sushi and shashimi platter. Amazingly delicious!!
FridayNovember 4, we went for a 5 mile hike. We saw these tiny toads jumping all over the place. It almost looked like the ground was moving.
Up close and personal
It was a pretty hike (the Yellow Trail). We also saw a bobcat, but by the time we got our phones out - he was gone.
Saturday we FaceTimed with Rebekah to watch her open presents and then did a 20 mile bike ride to Sarasota.
We decided to eat leftovers at the camper.
Sunday we went for a 5 mile hike and then “went” to church. After church we went to the beach.
We got cleaned up after the beach and went to Rosebud’s Steak and Seafood. Kurt was craving a prime rib - which he said was delicious. I got the lamb chops which were very yummy!
Monday we had Gale and Karen as guests before they headed back to Michigan. They had come down to Venice for the weekend. We showed them around the campground and some of the trails nearby.
It’s always so good to see good friends!! When they left, we rode our bikes 10 miles on the Legacy Trail to Venice. We cleaned up after our ride and went back to Sharky’s (recommended by Karen). Such a fun cool place to go for dinner!
Lobster and Jumbalaya dinner!
View from our table
After walking the pier, we headed back to the campground and took Tito out for his nightly walk. The moon was beautiful over the lake and we saw a bald eagle fly above us. We could hear them calling to each other. So cool!
Tuesday we went for a bike ride and stopped at Culverhouse Nature Center. Not much of a Nature Center - just a small garden. I met some fire ants there as well - not a fan!
We continued on to Sarasota, looking for the Red Bug Slough. We finally found the slough and went for a 2 mile walk.
We got back to the camper to do laundry and found out that our first night (supposed to be November 10) at Hillsboro State Park was cancelled due to hurricane Nicole. So we made a reservation for an extra night at Oscar Scherer.
Well, Wednesday morning we found out that all campers needed to evacuate Oscar Scherer before 1:00. So we found an rv park in Naples - hopefully out of the way of the hurricane.
God is sure taking us on quite an adventure! Praying for all in Florida!
