February 6 - 14, 2024

Kurt and I left without the trailer for Minnesota February 1 to see the kids. We left Minnesota February 5 for New Mexico. We decided to travel there in two days rather than three because the weather predictions were snowy on the 7th.

We arrived Tuesday, February 6 to partly cloudy skies. Beauty was still in one piece and we had no frozen pipes or any other issues at all. We were very thankful!

Jack and Cindy, as well as Deanna, welcomed us. They told us where we would be working for the week.  I was going to help with choir and Kurt was going to help build in the apartments.

Boy, were we glad we glad we booked it to Rehoboth!  Tuesday night into Wednesday is snowed, making roads icy.  The school was closed Wednesday.  I-40 was closed from Gallop to Flagstaff. I went to practice the music, which was a bonus for me and Kurt worked in the apartments.  The snow melted with the sun in the afternoon.

Wednesday night Jack and Cindy invited us to watch the documentary “In the Dirt.”  It was excellent!  We hope to have a watch party when we get home.  This link gives a preview:

More snow came overnight…

The Post Office from our camper window.

Thursday was the same as Wednesday - but with more snow.  I practiced, made some beds and Kurt built.  In the afternoon, the sun shone again.

The Post Office again.
Window Rock from the high school again.

Thursday night into Friday, more snow, but not as much.  There was a two hour delay, so we went to Grandpa's for breakfast with Jack and Cindy.  Then I went off to school with Jack and was able to help with the choir.  I also helped stuff envelopes in the office.

In the evening we went to the homecoming game.  We ran into Kelly Arendsen and her boys at the game.

Rehoboth smoked the other team 76-34!

Saturday there was snow again. We hung out around Beauty and did a little cleaning, went for a walk around campus and made dinner.  A chill day.

Sunday we “went” to church in the morning.  We are so blessed by our church, Faith in Zeeland, even from many miles away.

After church we took a hike to the canyon and then up to Window Rock.  The skies were blue and no wind. It was fabulous!

We carved our name in the wall along with many other names.

Sunday night we watched the Super Bowl with the Ippels and Dozemans. Good food and drinks and a good game.

Monday and Tuesday were full days of school!  Kurt worked Ken In’tVeld in the apartments and I went to the school to help with choir. We helped serve lunch at noon as well.

We had a wonderful time in Rehoboth and hope to come back! We are grateful for the wonderful work the teachers, staff and volunteers do!

We are also thankful for Jack and Cindy’s hospitality!  🍷🍻. To their health! (I don’t know how to spell it in Hungarian).
