Monument Valley and Glen Canyon, February 16 - 17

Friday, February 16, Kurt and I headed to Monument Valley.  It was about two hours to get there from our campground.  The sights were beautiful on the way to Monument Valley, and even better in the Valley.  The roads were rough.  It was 17 miles but took 2 hours to ride through.

From Monument Valley, we went to Forest Gump Point.  We had to take pics - and one of Kurt running!

Run Kurt! Run!

After that, we went to Gooseneck State Park.  It's interesting how the Colorado River winds around.

Next up, road 17 miles through Valley of the God's - a very, very rough ride, but again beautiful!

Saturday we went to Horseshoe Bend.  A short easy hike. So cool how the Colorado River twists and turns!

After Horseshoe Bend, we decided to hike the Catherdral Wash. The first part was easy and quite cool.  As we went on down toward the Colorado River, we had to crawl up and over rocks.  We did not make it to the end. ☹️ There was a 5 foot drop we had no desire to shimmy down and had no idea how to climb back up.  We did not see another way.  We had a quarter mile to go, but decided to turn around.  We talked to another couple later and they said they found a way on the opposite side of the wash.  Oh well - we still enjoyed the challenge and beauty of the hike!

The easy part.
Beautiful rocks!

This is where the 5 foot drop was and where we turned around.

We road down to the mighty Colorado River to see what we would've seen at the end of our hike.

The views of the Vermillion Ridge are so amazing! We remembered driving through this area 2 years earlier.

After dinner, we saw that the Rehoboth choir was live streaming their concert in Phoenix - so of course we watched!  They are so good!!  A good end to a great day!
