Porcupine Mountains - August 15-18, 2022

Monday we left Whitings Campground and headed to the Porcupine Mountains. It was a long travel day!

On our travels, we crossed into the UP.

And then we passed our favorite burger joint, Clyde’s, but it was too early to eat there.

We continued on and made it to the Porkies and to Presque Isles Campground.

Our campsite was amazing!  From our site you could see Lake Superior. Just beautiful!

Once we were set up, we noticed that our bedroom/bathroom door was off the track and busted.  So much for privacy in the bathroom at night!  One more thing to be repaired.

Next to our campsite were stairs that brought us down a lot of steps to the lake where we enjoyed the sunset.

Tuesday we left for a hike to theLake of the Clouds.  We went beyond the lake - a great hike!

Following a day of hiking, we headed to supper at Konteka Restaurant. Good beer, food and bears!  Yes - BEARS! They put left over food out for the bears. We sat by a window and were able to enjoy the sites!

Wednesday was a bit drizzly.  We took our time in the morning and set out on a hike by many of the waterfalls.  Absolutely beautiful!!

It started to rain - so back to camp. I read and Kurt worked on his computer.

After the rain stopped, we went out hiking agaiin. This time to the Greenstone waterfall. So lush and green!

Anyone know the story of Anansi? KAPOM!!

Thursday we packed up and headed to the kids in Minnesota for a week with them.

We loved the peacefulness of the Porcupine Mountains!
