We arrived at our ship late afternoon, around 4:30.
We headed to our room and then to dinner.
Tuna
Sea bass
Preseren - a waiter and poet. The girl above is thought to be the girl he loved - but she did not love him. Notice that she is nude. This was quite a scandal when the sculpture of this famous writer was unveiled because it stood right outside the monastery - not a thing for monks to see.
The home of the girl Preseren loved.
The monastery
The music hall where many famous composers performed…Wagner, Mozart, Bach, just to name a few.
The castle
Mushroom soup
We were not able to take the boat ride because the water level was too high. But we had a nice day.
We got back to the ship, cleaned up, had a cocktail hour and went for dinner. For an appetizer, I had octopus. Very tasty!
Monday, Kurt and I went to the Paklenica National Park near Zadar, Croatia.
The Adriatic Sea
Original homes near the park
This map shows the hike we were going to take.
A mill
A mountain climber
We saw many rock climbers along the way - no thank you! This was a great hike and we thoroughly enjoyed it!!
Before getting back on board, we went to the waters edge and listened to the sea organ. The music is made by the waves hitting the organs pipes. Turn up the volume!
We went back on board and did laundry. This is how to do laundry on a ship!
We met Timmers and Beversluis’ for dinner and had a wonderful evening.
Octopus salad
Lamb chops
