Thursday we left Rome by train to Venice through the beautiful countryside of Italy.
Friday morning we at breakfast at our hotel and did some shopping in Benice! What fun! Even Kurt found a couple good things to buy!

After shopping, we met at Saint Mark’s Square for a guided tour around the area.
Saint Mark’s
The two pink posts is the place where they would announce who would be executed.
Clock Tower
Oldest Cafe in Europe and possibly the world.
Select is a better Spritz than Aperol…so we’ve been told!
Bovolo Staircase
After our tour, we went on a Gondola tour. We shared our Gondola with Karen and Mark.
We finished the day with some natural gelato (found some basil lemon!!! LOVE!).
Saturday we got up early and took at boat to Murano and Burano.
First stop was Murano where they make the beautiful glass sculptures, chandeliers, glasses and so much more. They gave a demonstration of how they make vases and a horse. Amazing talent!
Then we travelled to Burano to watch a woman sew some Burano Lace.
The leaning tower of Burano
This is a dying art because it takes so long to make and the younger generation is not interested. Again - beautiful!
Ok - after I took the video, they told us not to take videos. Oops!
Burano was a pretty little town with colorful homes - the way the fishermen could find their homes when they came home after a long day of fishing.
