Palmetto Island State Park, Louisiana February 10-13, 2026

February 10 we traveled through a few small towns and then some narrow bumpy roads before we truned into Palmetto Island State Park.  Traveling to the park, we were concerned about what the park would be like. We turned into the entrance and were greeted by a huge gator - the only gator we have seen so far!

We had a great spot that was quite private and quiet.  This park is really nice!  We went to dinner at Shucks where Kurt had étouffée and I had blackened catfish.

Wednesday we hiked around the park. It felt so good to wear shorts!  The weather was perfect - even a little hot!

After our hike we relaxed outside and played a little Catan.

We went into Abbeville again for dinner at Dupuy Steak and Seafood.  Kurt had the Basa Roulade and I had the Crab Cake Dupuy. Absolutely delicious!

Thursday we hiked around to the Visitor Center, which was closed. Oh well, still a good hike.

We did laundry in the afternoon and hung out by Beauty. The laundry room was one of the nicest and cheapest we’ve used while camping. Obviously, cuz I’m writing about it in my blog! 😂

For dinner we ordered boiled crawfish from D&T’s, brought it back to the campsite and ate a glorious Louisiana meal!

We pack up on Friday the 13th. Palmetto Island - we would come back. Very nice campground!
