Ventura Ranch KOA, March 8-10, 2024

We arrived at Ventura KOA after winding our way through the hills and mountains. We hit the spot where the road was closed, but the flag man waved us on to the KOA. We were greeted by peacocks - not just a few, but tons! We saw about 40 or 50.  They do not have a pretty sound, but they were fun to watch!

After setting up, we went for supper at Ojai Beverage Company. I had a Tri Tip Sandwich and Kurt had a Prime Rib Sandwich and we shared a bottle of wine.  Absolutely yummy!

Saturday morning we left to do a 7 mile hike up to a waterfall.  We made it about 800 feet to the river crossing…

Yeah…we turned around. Because of all the rain, the river was high and would have been at least waist deep to cross.  Not advised to cross.  So we went back to the campground and walked around there - for 4 miles. We then went back to our camper and enjoyed the warm weather.

We learned that the peacocks had been in a bird sanctuary years ago. Due to a fire or heavy rains with flooding, they were released and have remained and grown in numbers.

Sunday morning we packed up and headed for our next destination.
