February 28, 2022 - hiking around Seminole Canyon

Today we hiked 8 miles around Seminole Canyon - a beautiful day - and so amazed at Gods beauty and creation!

In this cave are more paintings - which are depicted in the picture below. You could see them through binoculars. Pretty cool.

The Rio Grande

After our hike we went for supper and had a Devil’s Burger - but we redeemed it - it was heavenly! It did have a bit of spice.

February 27, 2022 - Seminole Canyon State Park

We left San Antonio and finally saw the sun.  We were starting to think we wouldn’t see it again. 🌧 So much drizzle and clouds since Tuesday. So good to see the sunshine . ☀️ And the temps actually got up to 70!

On our travels we saw so many police! And we went through our first check point.  Thankfully Tito - our Mexican dog - made it through the check point. 😅

We are staying at Seminole Canyon State Park - very close to the Mexico border.

Our campsite

We hiked the Seminole Canyon and saw paintings about 3000 years old. Very cool - and a good hike!

Sunset from our camper. A good day!

February 26, 2022 - San Antonio Texas

Another cold and drizzly day in Texas.  We went to San Antonio and walked past the Alamo (we went there 20 years ago) and then on to the Riverwalk.  We ate at Salt Grass - inside cuz it was cold (41 degrees). We had an amazing steak dinner with a sweet waitress.

After we ate we watched the Mardi Gras parade San Antonio style.

We did not eat here - but it brought back memories from 20 years ago.

February 24-25: Choke Canyon State Park, Texas

Choke Canyon State Park did not disappoint.  Yes it was cold, but not near as windy as it was in Padre Island.  We arrived on Wednesday night, set up camp and went for supper at Agave Jalisco in Three Rivers.  It was a very good dinner.

Thursday Kurt washed off all the salt and sand off of Beauty from Padre Island.  She is shining now!  Then we went for a walk.  So many birds and wild life around - but because of the cold we mostly saw birds.  Still cool!

A squirrel bound and determined to eat the bird food...
Green Jays - I had never heard of these before.
Cardinals

A Golden Fronted Woodpecker.

Another Green Jay
A deer on our hike.
A vulture - which I have named the Texas State Bird.  They are EVERYWHERE!
Turkeys

Today, Friday, we left for the KOA in San Antonio.  It’s still cold - but that won’t stop us! 😁

Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Texas. March 1-6, 2026

February 28, we traveled to San Angelo State Park.  We only stayed 1 night to travel on to Palo Duro Canyon State Park.  We went out to eat...
