March 22, 2022 - Joshua Tree Day 2

Another beautiful(but WINDY) day at Joshua Tree.

The "leaves" on the Joshua Trees have a very sharp needle end on them.  I would not want to "run" into a branch!  Ouch!

There was a fire in 1999 that burned much of the landscape.  This has left the land barren for now, but I love the twist in the wood of the mesquite trees.

Kurt climbing up to the mine (I stayed behind to take the pic - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

Joshua Trees - the trees that belong in Dr. Seuss books!

The flower on the Joshua Tree

The rocks at Joshua Tree are amazing!  So big - and balancing on each other.  They show how the earth probably worked its way away from the rocks, and left the rock bare and the wind and weather worked through the rocks to form these magnificent "sculptures."  Carla's scientific theory:  When God created the earth - He had fun!  He took a scoop of God sized sand and made God sized "sand sculptures."  That's what it looks like to me.  It's fun to imagine God creating this beauty!

After spending our time at Joshua Tree, we went for dinner at Yucca Kabob in Yucca.  Excellent Mediterranean food!!

The Lentil soup was amazing- and so was the Gyro!

Another amazing day!
