April 30, 2022 - Badlands

 We arrived in the Badlands and drove around on this very windy day.

April 29, 2022 - Mount Rushmore

 Looking at the forecast - rain and thunderstorms were predicted, so we decided to leave on time to Mount Rushmore We saw our friendly prairie dogs on the way out.

Then on to Mount Rushmore.

Following our walk around Mount Rushmore, we went partway down Needles Highway. We decided not to go the whole way because of clouds and rain - and you had to pay. Still very scenic.

For dinner we went into Hot Springs to Silk Road Experience. They had Pakistanian food that was a party in my mouth! So good!

April 28, 2022 - From Wheatland, WY to Wind Cave National Park, SD

 We left this morning to the beautiful view and meadowlark songs from our campground in Wheatland.

We made it to South Dakota and our campground in Wind Cave National Park.

 

We took a tour of the cave.

Following our tour, we headed back to the camper and out for supper.  Saw some great wildlife!  Deer, Bison and Prairie Dogs. 

Kurt started singing "Muskrat Suzie, Muskrat Sam...."  Really?  These are Prairie Dogs!  😜

Our dinner joint in Pringle, SD.  Our food was sufficient.

April 27, 2022 - Guernsey State Park

 We went to Guernsey State Park and hiked the North Bluff Trail.  Nice hike with nice views.

After reaching the end of the trail, instead of turning around, we forged our own trail. Thanks to the Alltrails App, we could easily figure it out.  We ended up cutting off 2 miles or so, but still did a 5 mile hike.

On our way home we passed the Oregon Trail Marker.

After our hike, we relaxed by Beauty and then went to supper in Wheatland.

Great Guava IPA and a good meal - I recommend the Salmon! 😋
