April 13, 2022 - Petrified Forest and Painted Desert - Day 2

What a difference a day makes!  Sunshine and much less wind!  Still chilly (high of 65 today).

We travelled to the Painted Desert first and did a rim hike.  So nice to see the blue sky!

After that small hike, we went did the Historic Blue Forest Trail - a 2 1/2 mile hike. It was a great hike!  A few places the trail was narrow and sloped down - a little scary - but great views!

You can see our narrow path on the left bottom of the photo

Kurt took this pic of me walking on the narrow path…

After that hike, we did the mile long Blue Mesa Trail.  This was an easy trail on a blacktop path.  You could see the trees where we finished the Blue Forest Trail.

The trees we ended our last hike up above.

Our final hike (more like a stroll) of the day was the Giant Logs Trail.  It was cool because they gave you a brochure that you could follow and learn about the petrified trees.

Kurt is giving perspective on how big this tree was!

Tomorrow we have a travel day to Rehoboth.
