March 31, 2022 - Montezuma’s Well

When going on adventures, you sometimes come across delightful surprises. We chose a hike to walk - not a tough hike and not too far from our campground.  We were not expecting much. It was was a nice hike that sparked our curiosity.

At the end of the trail we saw the “hole” on the ground called the Montezuma’s Well was, but couldn’t really see it.

From across the valley, we could see people walking around the "hole" and a building.  We decided to go check it out.

Stopped to see a little scenery and bird watching along the way.  This is a female Ladderback Woodpecker.

We then found Montezuma's Well.  So cool!

I believe this is a red tailed hawk.

Because this was part of a National Monument, we decided to go to the Visitor Center, get my passport stamp and just check things out there as well.  What we found were amazing cliff dwellings here at Montezuma's Castle. And the Sycamore Trees were beautiful there as well!

A model of what the cliff dwelling looked like.

After a full day, we cleaned up and went to a wonderful dinner at Moscato's Italian Restaurant.
