Sunday morning we had a 2 1/2 hour drive to Bruzzi Vineyard … we thought…
We left at 10:30-ish after “going” to Faith in Zeeland.
We saw these Gambel’s Quail just as we were packing up. We had heard them quite often here.
As we left, the Copilot App (an app for the trailer) took us on the Apache Trail. Beautiful views!
The Apache Trail is very curvy and takes a lot of concentration driving Beauty and the Beast. We knew that part of the Apache Trail was closed, but thought we must turn before that. Wrong! We had to turn around, and go back 15 miles, head back toward Apache Junction and take another route. We used Google Maps this time.
More beautiful views going back, but easier driving once we hit the highway.
Well Google maps took us a good way until we had to go on a bridge that had a height of 12’3”. We needed 12’10”…
So we turned around again about 6 miles and used the Copilot gps again that would be aware of bridges we could not go under and roads a camper could go on … we thought…
Wrong again!
We went down a dirt road. We knew we would be on dirt roads part of the way. The road got narrower and was uphill and a bit curvy. We reached a turn and a sign stated that the roads were not maintained and you could proceed at your own risk. We are not risky people - especially pulling Beauty. We turned around agin 6 miles and once again used Google maps - choosing a different route.
We now were on the correct route and made it over bumpy dirt roads to Bruzzi Vineyards. We got there at 5:15 - a 7 hour drive…
We made it in time for dinner, and relaxed the rest of the night. One of our valances came loose, and we have to do a bit of repair.
