Tuesday travelled into Missouri. On our travels, we cracked up at the sign the said “Crooked and Steep Roads”. Crooked was an interesting word for all the curves.
We rolled into Rolling River State Park in misty weather. Our sight was a bit muddy, but we had a cement pad, which was very helpful!
We had left overs in the camper and just hung out. Wednesday we went on 2 hikes - the Eagle’s Nest and the Devil’s Kitchen. Both were very nice hikes!
Fishing lures caught in the tree
While pulling the trailer the day before, none of the displays were working. And then today we noticed one of the tires must have a slow leak. So….we will need to bring in the Beast to be repaired and get a new tire for Beauty. The joys…
After assessing Beauty and the Beast, we went to dinner at Angler’s Restaurant. When looking on Google, it said it was 10 miles away - that’s as the crow flies. It was really 25 miles. But it was a nice ride. And we loved the restaurant and the food! I had Rainbow Trout and Kurt had Catfish. We both also enjoyed Lobster Bisque. I also had a wine-a-rita. I recommend!
We followed the Beasts GPS back to the campground. What an adventure! Yes - fewer miles - but the roads were all dirt roads to places that seemed to be in no man’s land. It was pretty.
A dirty Beast
Thursday morning Kurt took the Beast to a dealer to reset all the displays so they would work properly. It is nice to know how much gas you have and to be able to use cruise control if your not on a steep and crooked road!
While he was gone, I left on a hike. The camp ranger stopped me and told me that all trailers had to be hooked up and ready to leave due to the storm that was coming. The river often floods the campground when there is a lot of rain. I finished my walk and packed everything up. Kurt got back and we hooked up Beauty and the Beast. Then off to replace a tire. We were told we would have to wait for 2 1/2 hours, so we went in the camper and made lemonade out of lemons while we waited.
They got to us earlier than expected. Yay!! We decided to move on to another campground in Springfield Missouri. It’s good to be flexible!
We got to Springfield before the rain came, so went out for dinner to Mo. Mike’s BBQ. Awesome food!! They treated us so well. I was debating between a Cuban or Reuben sandwich. Well, their special was a Creuban Sandwhich - both put together. It was highly recommended - so I ordered it. I was not disappointed! Kurt ordered a smash burger that he said was very good. Because it was our first time, they gave us more sides and meats to try. The burnt ends were the best. They did not have much in beer selection though. If you are ever in Springfield, MO, it is worth going!
Creuban and super good fries
Cheesy corn (awesome!), baked beans (almost as good as Cher’s), potato salad and coleslaw.
Smash burger and onion rings
At dinner, the rains came, so we went to Bass Pro. This place was amazing! We did not go to the aquarium or museum because it was closing soon. But I enjoyed shopping - Kurt’s favorite thing to do. 😂
We packed up Friday morning in the rains and headed to St. Louis.
Oh the adventures we have! God is in ALL the details!
