We arrived Saturday, February 25 at Hart Springs RV Park. Usually they have a pool- it’s closed for repairs. Usually you can snorkel in the clear hot springs - but due to all the rain in Georgia, the Suwannee River is very high and filtered the muddy waters into Hart Springs. Gators and Water Moccasin’s cannot be seen as well as more bacteria in the water. Not good for snorkeling or swimming. We are bummed - but make lemonade out of lemons.
Every day, we have hiked 3 1/2 miles in the park. It’s a nice park.
Muscovy Duck
Sunday night we went back to Suwannee Belle for dinner. The river was definitely higher than when we were there a month earlier! Again - great food!
After we came home from dinner, Ben FaceTimed us so he could open his birthday gift. It was a party at their house (with fondue for dinner). Fun to be a part of the festivities!
Danny dancing to Newsies
Monday we made dinner at the campground - Scallops! So yummy!
Tuesday we went for our walk and then decided to go to Cedar Key, Florida for the afternoon to check it out. Cute little town. We went for dinner at Steamers and had some delish Oysters and Clams!
Done!
Thursday we went kayaking on the Santa Fe River which went past 8 springs. It was a lovely day. Rumor has it that sometimes you can find diamonds in the springs. We did not look - we enjoyed the beauty around us in the kayak.
One of the springs.
There were turtles everywhere!
Great Egret
King Fisher. Wish I had my good camera!
Great Blue Heron
The springs were so clear! It looks like we are on top of the vegetation, buts just that the water is so clear.
After kayaking, we got cleaned up and went to “Off the Beet” for dinner. For Kurt to LOVE pasta - you know it was worth going! The owner served us and was so good. She told us they had opened 10 months ago and the building was an old Coca-Cola plant.
Mediterranean Chicken Pasta
Chicken Alfredo
The beer Kurt enjoyed with his pasta.
Gluten free Chocolate Grenache Cheesecake and Blueberry Cannoli.
Friday we hung out at the campground and started preparing to leave Saturday. We went one more time to Suwannee Belle. Saturday we left for Port St Joe, Florida.
