Our reservation on Hot Springs changed from 3 nights to two. So we stopped at Rising Star Campground on the Arkansas River. Fantastic site! But we had bitter cold winds! 38 degrees. We hunkered down!
Sunday we made it to Hot Springs and set up camp.
It was still very cold! We got cleaned up and went to dinner at Fisherman’s Wharf. We had a nice inside table on the water. We shared a bowl of gumbo and we both had the sea bass. It was very good. Nothing spectacular, but good.
Monday we went to Hot Springs. The city surrounds the National Park. First we went on a 3 1/2 mile hike. There were some steep hills. Preparing for the Ozarks!
We went to the Visitor Center, which used to be a bath house on Bath House Row.
We then walked the Promenade trail and found a few open hot springs. No, you cannot bathe in them. They are 143 degrees - super hot!
Tuesday morning was an interesting start. Monday night we had the Wi-Fi on using the truck (and battery). We did not turn it off soon enough and had a dead battery. So we called AAA to come and give us a jump. Lesson learned - set a timer when using the trucks Wi-Fi.
It’s a gloomy rainy day - a good day for traveling. Now off to the Ozarks.
