March 14 - 18 Travelling Days

We are starting to head north!

We got to Wendy Oak RV resort in Florence Mississippi on Tuesday. The campsite was nice, but close to a highway and trains. Not the most peaceful. The weather is sunny but quite a bit cooler. In the 60’s.

We went for a hike on Wednesday.  It was near buildings and a highway. Again - not peaceful. BUT - there were hills!!  We are no longer in Florida!

Wednesday night we thought we go out to eat to the Lost Mule. Unfortunately they were closed. We were bummed. Not much around to choose from.  Went to Barry’s.  The owners were obviously Christian…signs everywhere inside.  The food was fine. Nothing special.

Thursday we travelled over the Mississippi River and then thru Louisiana to Arkansas. A cool day.

We got to our campsite at Lake Village and decided to go to Hoots for supper.  According to Google, they were open and served steak, which sounded good to us after eating a lot of fish!  We got there at 4 - our typical eating time.  They did not serve steaks or alcohol til 5.  And you really needed a reservation then because they get busy. We ordered a burger and chicken salad and decided to make reservations for Friday - Kurt’s birthday.

Friday we looked for a hike - not much around.  We found one that looked interesting an hour away - Poverty Point.  We get there and had no idea that it was a national monument!  There was a museum of the history and artifacts.  This was an old city that natives had built in around 1700-1100 BC.  This was a great place to walk around and visualize what the “city” looked like.

They had a great app to use while we walked.

The app showed what the site looked like from where we were standing.

Cool place! We went back to Hoots for dinner and had excellent steaks!

Saturday we left for our next spot. We were supposed to go to Hot Springs, but there was was a mix up in our reservation - so we will get there a day later.  Staying at Rising Star campground for one night.
